The budget for the restoration of Healan's Mill in East Hall County now has an additional $300,000.

The Appalachian Regional Commission approved a grant for the amount of money for the project's welcome center development.

The mill, also known as Healan's-Head's Mill, is the last standing grist mill in the county and it is undergoing renovation and repairs to turn the historic site into an educational destination and visitors center. The project has four phases, with phase one already complete and the land acquisition will transition them in to the next

The grant funding will be specifically used to acquire almost 100 acres near the mill for a welcome center to be constructed.
