HIAWASSEE — Nick Patrick scored three rushing touchdowns to help Commerce roll over Towns County 38-14 on Friday in Hiawassee.

Kyre Ware helped the Tigers (7-1, 6-1 Region 8-A) sprint to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter -- the first on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Nate Ray and the second on a 40-yard scoop and score following a fumbled Indians snap.

Then Patrick took center stage, scoring from 1 yard twice to help Commerce to a 28-0 halftime lead. His third touchdown made it 35-0 in the third quarter.

The Indians (3-5, 2-5) got a touchdown run from Zach Davenport and a touchdown pass from Trent Bradshaw to Davenport to pull within 38-14.

Towns County will look to bounce back in a key showdown next Friday against Lakeview Academy in Hiawassee.

Commerce, meanwhile, faces a showdown with Athens Academy in Commerce.
