The Gwinnett County Commission and the Sugar Hill City Council have approved an inter-governmental agreement to disburse county SPLOST monies for city projects, including the Sugar Loop Greenway project.
The $3,280,915 will cover 81-percent of the total cost of three projects, which also includes an extension of Level Creek Road and the completion of a sidewalk project, according to county documents.
The total cost of the projects is estimated at around $4 million.
As part of the agreement, any cost overruns will be handled by Sugar Hill, which is also managing each of the projects.
The Sugar Loop Greenway — the first three legs of which are scheduled for completion this year — will form a loop around the city of at least 14 miles. The latest round of funding will go toward the "roadway" portions of the trail, said Paul Radford, city manager.
Meanwhile, Level Creek Road will be extended from Ga. 20/Nelson Brogdon Boulevard to Stanley Street.
Sugar Hill council members approved the motion at their October voting session, while county commissioners approved the agreement on Wednesday.
