Riders on Gwinnett County Transit buses will soon be able to log in to a wi-fi network while they're on the go.

Gwinnett County commissioners on Wednesday approved a $318,323 contract with Avail Technologies, Inc. to have the equipment installed, according to county documents.

"This equipment will allow transit to become a more appealing and competitive option, as individuals can choose to take transit and utilize their media devices instead of utilizing a personal automobile, thus increasing ridership," said Alan Chapman, Gwinnett transportation director, in a county memo.

Commissioners gave the one-time purchase unanimous approval at their business session.
