LOGANVILLE — Flowery Branch football showed that it can win with defense and special teams on Friday, as the Falcons edged Loganville 6-3 in Loganville.

The two teams combined for just 292 yards of offense -- 166 for the Falcons (7-1, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) -- as Alexander Sanchez provided all the scoring for the Branch, drilling a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 24-yard kick in the second quarter.

Thanks to a stellar Falcons defense it was the visitors needed.

Flowery Branch yielded just 126 yards -- 64 rushing -- to keep Loganville in check, outside of a 29-yard field goal that knotted the score at 3-3 in the second quarter.

Malik Drayton rushed for 72 yards to lead the Falcons offense, while Malik Damons added 55 yards on nine carries.

The Branch plays host to Clarke Central next week. A win would give the Falcons a a shot to play for the Region 8-AAAAA title at Buford to close out the regular season.
