GAINESVILLE — Lakeview Academy's wide-open offense continued to impress on Friday.

But the Lions could not make enough stops on defense or special teams to keep George Walton in check, as the Lions fell 49-35 in Gainesville.

Lakeview put up 254 yards in the first half alone but was forced to play catch-up throughout after George Walton's Will Wolf opened the scoring with a 25-yard run in the first quarter.

The Lions (2-5, 1-5 Region 8-A) proved up to the task throughout the first half, trading scores with the Bulldogs (6-1, 5-1), including touchdown passes for Alec Bornhorst to JD Roark, KJ Millwood and Dillon Knepp, as Lakeview tied the contest three times before the interval. But George Walton countered every score, including with two kickoff returns for touchdowns and another long return that gave the Bulldogs a short field (another was also called back on a penalty).

George Walton pulled ahead 35-21 in the third quarter and the Lions could not level the score the rest of the way.

Lakeview will play host to Hebron Christian next week.
