FLOWERY BRANCH - A movie based on a Stephen King short story is slated to be produced in Northeast Georgia and by a local production company.

Stephen Dean is President of Dean Film Works in Flowery Branch and tells AccessWDUN he has secured permission from King to produce "Rest Stop" which centers around a troubled writer.

"The main character, the protagonist goes under pen names, but it creates a split personality for him," Dean says. "And it seems he has trouble deciding which personality he is at different times."

Dean has the rights to the short film under the condition it is completed in one year. He says they will be shooting "Rest Stop" in several Northeast Georgia locations.

The short film will include a very limited number of actors, and casting information for the film has not yet been established.

A press release about the film says the company will rely on crowdfunding for much of the financing. Follow this link for more information.
