Authorities are hoping the public will be able to identify a mask-wearing man who threw gasoline on a store clerk at a Hoschton gas station and threatened to set him on fire.
The inicident happened Sunday at 5:09 p.m. at the Citgo on Ga. 53 in Hoschton, said Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum. The suspect threw gasoline onto the clerk out of a bottle, demanding money from the cash register.
"Praise the Lord he wasn't set on fire, but there was a tussle between them. The (suspect) took off running," said Mangum.
The man was apparently reaching for a lighter or match, but was unable to get to it.
The suspect, a 6-foot tall white man, was also wearing a blue rain coat. He fled toward West Broad Street.
Police K9 units were unable to locate the suspect.
