A Riverdale man is wanted in connection with a shooting incident that happened January 12 in Buford that left a man injured.

It allegedly started with an argument at a home on Latimore Avenue between Robert Mongomery, 54, and Adrian Sadler, at which point Jeffrey Ramone Jackson, 34, of Riverdale intervened, according to Cpl. Michele Pihera, Gwinnett County Police spokeswoman.

"Jackson pulled a gun and eventually shot (Montgomery) in the leg before fleeing in a black, possibly newer model GMC vehicle with a temporary tag," said Pihera in a phone interview.

Jackson's whereabouts are currently unknown, and police are working to determine why he intervened in the first place.

A warrant has been put out for his arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

"Mr. Jackson is not from the Buford area ... He was probably in Buford visiting his friends or family," said Pihera.

Montgomery was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are non-life threatening, said Pihera.

Anyone with information on Jackson's whereabouts is asked to contact Gwinnett Police at (770) 513-5300 or — should anyone want to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward — Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
