BUFORD — Gabby Curry won just about everything over the course of her volleyball career at Buford -- some things twice.

Curry was recently named the Gatorade Georgia Volleyball Player of the Year for the second straight campaign, capping a prep career that included back-to-back state titles and numerous individual awards.

The University of Kentucky-bound Curry was also named the 2016 Gwinnett County Player of the Year, Area 8-AAAAA Player of the Year and Class AAAAA Player of the Year after finishing the year with 405 digs, 254 kills, and 72 aces. In her career she reached over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.

"She is just one of the most solid players I have ever seen," Buford volleyball coach Hadli Daniels said of Curry. "Her consistency and intensity made her a player I have counted on for the past four years, and she will obviously be sorely missed."
