The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed Wednesday morning that agents have been asked to investigate allegations of inappropriate contact by the staff physician at the Hall County Family Health Center.

While the GBI did not specifically mention Dr. Philip Marler by name, county government officials confirmed via email that Marler is no longer associated with the center.

"Hall County Government has requested an outside agency, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, conduct an investigation into complaints made against him.  Due to the ongoing investigation, no further comment can be made," the county statement read.

GBI Region 8 Special Agent in Charge Kim Williams said the Hall County Sheriff's Office requested help on the case from the GBI on December 12.

"This is an active investigation," Williams said in an email.

Marler came on board as staff physician for the Hall County Family Health Center when it started two years ago.

"Marler is and remains one of the founding physicians of The Longstreet Clinic P.C.," Jullie King, Director, Community Development and Human Resources at the clinic wrote in an email.
