At a meeting Thursday afternoon, members of the Gainesville City School Board will get their first look at applications for the superintendent's post.

Board members will meet in executive session beginning at 4 p.m. at the School Board Office at 508 Oak Street, according to an email statement.

The statement said board members will conduct a preliminary review of the applications; no board action will be taken during the meeting.

Applications will be accepted until February 3, according to information released last month.

The Board hired King-Cooper and Associates of Thomaston to coordinate the search for applicants.

Dr. Wanda Creel, who is the current superintendent, announced in September she would resign at the end of her contract at the end of the 2017 school year.
