TMU women's golf sets new 2-day record at Reinhardt Invitational

WALESKA — The Truett McConnell women's golf team broke the two-day school record, shooting a 681 as the Reinhardt Fall Invitational finished up on Tuesday. The Bears placed in third behind the University of the Cumberlands and Tennessee Wesleyan, respectively.

The Bears beat the school record for the two-day total by two strokes. Led by Ashton Thompson's 169, the Bears were able to finish higher than AAC opponents Bryan, Reinhardt and Montreat.

Thompson finished in a tie for 12th, while Hannah Wall and Teagan Lovingood finished in a tie for 14th with a 170. Alex Oren finished T-18th with a 172.

The University of the Cumberlands won the tournament by an astonishing 69 strokes, shooting a 292 on Tuesday. All five ladies placed in the top five.

The Bears will be back in action at the Sand Shark Shootout, hosted by USC Beaufort, next Monday and Tuesday.
