High school cross country coach hit, injured while running on Chestatee Road

The cross country coach for Chestatee High School in Hall County suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a vehicle during a run Sunday morning.
 
CHS Principal Suzanne Jarrard confirmed that Stacey Merck was running with students when the accident happened on Chestatee Road. She said no students were injured.
 
Merck apparently was hit by the mirror the the truck and suffered facial injuries. 
 
Capt. Zachary Brackett with Hall County Fire Services said emergency personnel responded to the scene at 7:35 a.m. Sunday. He said the patient was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
 
Jarrard said Merck was taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta with facial injuries.
 
Law enforcement has released no details on the accident yet. 
 
In addition to coaching the boys and girls high school cross country teams, Merck is a special education teacher at Chestatee Academy.
