Inky Johnson, an Atlanta native who played college football for the University of Tennessee before suffering a career-ending injury, will be the keynote speaker for the 14th Annual Futures for Kids Gala in Gainesville.

Johnson will appear on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County at the October 11 event at the Gainesville Civic Center.

Johnson suffered a life-threatening and career-ending injury in a game on September 9, 2006. Since then, he has earned two degrees from the University of Tennessee and has gone on to speak to thousands of people, telling them his story of perseverance and faith.

The Futures for Kids campaign raises funds to provide programs to more than 5,600 kids in the Gainesville-Hall County community. The campaign funds a long list of activities, including tutoring, SAT prep, chess classes, ballet instruction and much more.
