Posted 9:28PM on Friday 9th September 2016 ( 7 years ago )
Winder Police were scheduled to roll out their latest cruiser this weekend, a pink patrol car to raise awareness for breast cancer, police said.

"The patrol car will be utilized by the Winder Police Department as a normal patrol vehicle conducting normal police operations for the entire month of October," a news release from the department stated.

The city of Winder and its police department have several employees whose family and friends have suffered from breast cancer.

"It is a small effort to help bring attention to a great cause," the release stated.

Police planned to unveil the car at the city's annual Jug Tavern Festival this weekend.  The vehicle is a partnership with Akins Ford, who provided time and resources to paint and stripe the car.

Officers plan to use the car at other festivals, parades and special events.
