TIGER — Rabun County piled up over 550 yards of total offense and rallied from an early deficit to beat Stephens County 24-10 Friday night in its long-awaited season opener.
The Wildcats (1-0) had their opener last week ruled a no contest after lightning forced the game to be canceled.
While the offense was churning out the yardage, the Wildcats defense held a powerful Stephens County offense to just 45 yards passing one week after the Indians (1-1) scored their most points in a game since 2012.
Bailey Fisher was the spark for Rabun County throwing for 265 yards and adding 109 yards rushing and scoring three times.
Stephens County opened the scoring getting a 2-yard touchdown run from Jackson Bell to cap a 4-play, 80-yard drive to open the game
Rabun County answered early in the second quarter a 4-yard run by Fisher and it stayed that way until halftime.
The Wildcats took the lead for good in the third quarter on a 33-yard field goal by Andrew Barnes. The Indians tied the game moments into the fourth quarter on a 24-yard field by Luke Pearson.
But Rabun County put the game away on a pair of touchdown runs by Fisher of 26- and 3-yards midway through the fourth quarter for a 24-10 lead.
The Indians next will play host to Flowery Branch while Rabun County will play host White County, both games for next Friday.
