Sawnee EMC contractor crews have been deployed to Southeast Georgia to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Hermine.

Over 20,000 EMC customers and several thousand more Georgia Power customers lost power on Friday as the hurricane ripped through the coastal towns.

"(Hurricane Hemine) was still pretty strong as it came into Georgia," said Blake House, Vice President of Marketing and Member Services for Sawnee EMC. "There's a good bit of flooding and wind damage."

Close to twenty crews are working to remove debris and restore power as House says there are several days of work to be done.
