The public safety sector in Jackson County will be honored next month at a special event called the Hometown Hero Awards.

Sponsored by Precision Planning, Inc., the special awards luncheon Oct. 25 at the Jefferson Civic Center will recognize firefighters, police, and emergency personnel. The program will feature presentation of the Medal of Valor, Public Safety Professional of the Year, Public Safety Unit of the Year and the Medal of Merit.

“This is something long overdue,” said Jim Shaw, Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce  President/CEO.  “These are the men and women who protect and serve the Jackson County community and we all need to rally together to honor them and say thank you.”
