Habersham seeking proposals for hospital operation

Posted 8:26PM on Monday 29th August 2016 ( 7 years ago )
CLARKESVILLE — Habersham County officials continue to seek options for operation of the county's hospital.

Habersham County Commission Chairwoman Natalie Crawford discussed the matter following Monday's called commission meeting.

"The county and the hospital authority are in the same place, that we're going to explore options for the hospital so we have sent out an RFP [request for proposals] that parties of interest could submit management agreements, lease agreements, affiliation, purchase agreements," Crawford said.

While the RFPs have been sent out by officials, copies of those are not available for public review at this time, Crawford said. No deadline for those submissions has been made public at this time.

"We sent those out and are waiting anxiously for replies," Crawford said.

Habersham Medical Center is a 53-bed, not-for-profit acute care facility serving Habersham and adjoining counties. Some three dozen physicians serve on the medical staff.

In addition to the medical care offered, Habersham Medical Center is a major employer for the area, providing more than 600 jobs and millions of dollars of annual economic impact, county leaders have said.
Habersham County officials continue to seek requests for proposals from interested parties regarding the operation of Habersham Medical Center in Demorest.
The Habersham County Commission holds a called meeting Monday afternoon in Clarkesville.
