Suwanee holds millage rate steady; greenway project comes in under budget

Posted 12:21PM on Wednesday 24th August 2016 ( 7 years ago )

Suwanee city council voted Tuesday night to hold its millage rate steady at 4.93 mills, the same rate it has been since 2012, and the rate city leaders used in the fiscal year 2017 budget.

The millage rate is expected to bring in an additional 5.18 percent in revenue from city property taxes.

"We held three public hearings, and we did not have a single person come out (for or against it)," said Marty Allen, city manager.

A home with a fair market value of $260,000 would pay approximately $25.27 more in property taxes; a $550,000 home would see a $53.46 increase.

The full, revenue-neutral rollback would have been 4.687 mills.
