Hall County Sheriff's Office to increase traffic patrols on Friendship Road

Posted 11:54AM on Tuesday 16th August 2016 ( 7 years ago )

Expect to see more law enforcement patrolling Ga. 347 now that construction on the roadway is complete.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office will be concentrating its traffic patrols on the roadway, which is otherwise known as Friendship Road or Lanier Islands Parkway in South Hall.

"Those concentrated patrols will be taking place in the immediate future," Deputy Stephen Wilbanks, sheriff's office spokesman, said in a phone interview.

"We're not releasing the exact dates and times, but it will be in the immediate future."

Wilbanks said there has been an uptick in citizen complaints in the area, mainly due to speeding on the completed roadway.

The speed limit has increased from 35 to 45 mph.

"Of course we'll be looking for any traffic violations. Speeding is one of the major complaints, as well as wreckless driving. Naturally we're going to be looking for DUI's, and, of course, distracted driving," said Wilbanks.
