The Georgia State Patrol is continuing its investigation of a Stephens County wreck that left a bicyclist seriously injured Monday morning.

The bicyclist and another vehicle were traveling east on Jenkins Ferry Road near Martin when the vehicle attempted unsuccessfully to pass the bicycle and the two collided, said Sr. Trooper Jason Stephens of GSP Post 7 from the scene.

The adult male bicyclist was airlifted from a nearby boat ramp to Greenville Memorial Hospital with what GSP believes are serious injuries, Stephens said.

The wreck was reported at 10:42 a.m. and troopers remained on scene at 1 p.m.

No further details are immediately available.
