At the recent 2016 SkillsUSA National Competition in Louisville, Kentucky, Lanier Technical College's Karen Ballew put her Nurse Assisting skills to use to help a 15-year-old  Washington State high school competitor, who had fallen and badly dislocated her knee during a storm.

According to a news release from Lanier Tech, Ballew checked the young lady's medical condition and provided support while waiting on an ambulance to arrive. Ballew also kept the young competitor calm and protected from the storm and lightning.
