FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch's Tanner Merck claimed the Joe Dumphy Memorial Classic held this weekend at Royal Lakes.

Merck shot a 5-under-par 67 on Saturday to end the day with a 3-stroke lead over Parker Stone from Savannah. Merck followed that round with a 75 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 2-under-par 142, holding off Stone by two strokes.

Dumphy was highly-ranked 15-year-old golfer from North Forsyth that was tragically killed in a car accident last July. Eight nine golfers from five states participated in this first tournament that will become an annual event.
