Two Lanier Tech students win bronze medals at national competition

Two Lanier Technical College students brought home bronze medals from the 2016 SkillsUSA National Championships, held over the weekend in Louisville, Ky.

Abigail Rodriguez, a Gainesville resident and cosmetology student at the school's Oakwood campus, placed third in the cosmetology competition.

Karen Ballew, a student at the Barrow campus, brought home a bronze medal in the nurse assisting competition.

Ballew is also president of the Georgia Student Government Association (GSGA), and Lanier Tech's 2015 GOAL (Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership) winner.

According a news release, Daniel Delgado also competed in the event in the systems technology category.
