DEMOREST — One Banks County student complained of injuries after the school bus she was riding on collided with another vehicle in Habersham County Tuesday afternoon.

The unnamed teenage girl, 15, was the sole passenger on a 1992 International school bus operated by Banks County School System and driven by Alice Faye Day, 64, of Lula, said Trooper 1st Class John Crawford of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa. The student was taken to Habersham Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment.

That bus was headed from the Cornelia area on Ga. 105 to Mountain Education Center High School, located at the former Fairview Elementary School campus on Fairview School Road, Crawford said.

The other vehicle involved was a black 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by Bobby Joe Franklin, 77, of Clarkesville, Crawford said. That truck was crossing from the White County side of the intersection on Ga. 115.

Crawford said it appears the vehicles driven by Franklin and Day entered the intersection of Ga. 105 and Ga. 115 at the same time, resulting in the collision at the four-way stop.

Neither driver complained of injury at the scene.

The wreck impeded traffic on both Ga. 105 and Ga. 115 from the time of the wreck at 4:27 p.m. until about 5:45 p.m.

Charges, if any, are pending, Crawford said.
