A portion of Wilshire Trails Park in Gainesville will be closed for a few days starting Wednesday, May 4 as the city's parks department replaces a section of trail.
The portion of the trail being replaced this week is located between the Ridgewood Avenue area and the Overlook Trail leading up to Woods Mill Academy.
Officials with Gainesville Parks and Recreation said because of the location of the trail segment, there will be no available detours or bypasses during the course of the work. They expect to be finished by Friday, May 6.
Parks and Rec officials said they have replaced significant portions of the trail, as well as bridges, at Wilshire over the past year. They said they do the work in segments for two reasons - cost effectiveness and to create as little disruption to park use as possible.
