GAINESVILLE — Spencer Ralston cooled off a little on Saturday -- at least by his own incredibly high standards.
One day after firing a low score of 63 in the opening round of The Invite at Chattahoochee Golf Club, the Gainesville High senior shot a 6-under 66.
The performance helped Ralston -- playing in his last prep tournament on his home course -- to finish tied for low medalist with Lee Scott Academy's Turk Pettit, who carded a second-day best 64. Pettit edged out Ralston on the fifth hole of a playoff for individual honors with a birdie.
The University of Georgia-bound Ralston helped the Red Elephants to a fourth-place team finish, behind winners Lee Scott Academy -- which finished a mind-boggling 18-under for the tournament.
Columbus was second at 8-under, while Marist was third at 6-over -- one stroke ahead of Gainesville.
Ryan Hogan produced two solid rounds over the course of the tournament, shooting 75 both days to finish tied for 20th. Davis Weaver was just behind, tied for 24th after rounds of 73 and 79.
Gainesville will compete again in the Class AAAAA championship tournament on May 16 at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Augusta.
