Boys soccer: Union County cruises back into second round again

BLAIRSVILLE — The Union County boys soccer team kept up their early playoff success on Thursday.

The Panthers blanked Temple 6-0 in the first round of the Class AA postseason in Blairsville to claim their third opening round win of the last four seasons.

 

Parker McCombs bagged a hat trick, scoring three goals while also adding one assist for Union County, which sprinted to a 3-0 halftime lead. Brian Smith also scored twice -- notching the contests final two strikes, while Jake Waltz added a goal and an assist; Waltz scored the opener. Sam Seiler also added two assists and Lawson Baenninger had one assist.

Temple managed just three shots on goal for the game.

The Panthers earned a trip to Putnam County on Tuesday in the second round of the playoffs. Start time is to be announced.
