VIDEO: Edwards muscles to Richmond Sprint Cup win

Posted 10:00AM on Thursday 28th April 2016 ( 8 years ago )

Coming into the final lap of Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway, it looked like Kyle Busch had it all sewn up.

After leading the final stint of the race, Busch had held his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Carl Edwards, at bay.  But with the white flag in the air, Edwards put on a huge charge, making it to Busch’s back bumper, and coming to the checkered flag, Edwards nudged Busch out of the way, making the pass and taking the win in the Toyota Care 400.

It marks Edwards' second straight Sprint Cup win, giving him a lot of momentum going to Talladega this weekend.

Jimmie Johnson finished in third, with Kasey Kahne in fourth and Kevin Harvick in fifth.

Afterwards, Edwards talked about the last lap pass and about the win to the media.  We also heard from team owner Joe Gibbs, second place finisher Busch and fourth place finisher Kahne.

The NASCAR scene now moves from the short tracks to the biggest and fastest track on the circuit, the 2.88 mile Talladega Superspeedway.  WDUN will have live coverage of the NASCAR weekend, beginning with Saturday’s Xfinity Series Sparks Energy 300 at 2:30 pm on 102.9 FM.

Action continues at Talladega’s high banks on Sunday with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Geico 500 beginning at noon on 102.9 FM and at 1 pm on 550 AM.
