An early evening shooting at an apartment complex off of McEver Road in Gainesville claimed the life of a man Monday, and police are investigating it as a murder.
Police arrived at the Orchard Brook Apartments to find a 21-year-old man who had been shot multiple times, Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.
The critically injured man was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
"We do possibly have suspects' names. The investigation is currently active and ongoing," Holbrook said.
Authorities said the incident happened on the apartment grounds in what Holbrook termed as a common area.
"The motive is not necessarily clear at this time," he added.
Holbrook said the victim was at the complex with other known parties. Investigators don't believe the shooting was random.
Police are withholding the victim's name while they notify family members.
