CLEVELAND -- An accidental natural gas line rupture caused some concern on the Truett-McConnell College campus in Cleveland Wednesday night.

Maintenance crews on the campus were digging to install a new water line and  hit a one-1/4-inch natural gas line, said Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt.

Pruitt said the leak did cause some concern, but noted there were not many students on campus because the college is on spring break.

Atlanta Natural Gas was contacted and arrived on scene in about 30 minutes, then had to request another crew due to an improperly functioning shut-off valve for the line.

Firefighters were dispatched at 9:36 p.m.

The gas line was finally repaired and firefighters were released at 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
