Eight Hall County Sheriff's Office recruits recently graduated from the Northeast Georgia Police Academy.

They are: Miguel Arana-Guzman, Steven Jeffries, Hunter Landis, Nathaniel Sherman, Laura Pirkle, Yaneth Torres, Alissa Moulder, and John Bustamante.

Recruits begin their tenure with the sheriff's office by serving as non-sworn officers at the county jail, according to HCSO spokesman Stephen Wilbanks, "where they typically work for about a year to two years (sometimes more) before attending the police academy."

Wilbanks says after graduating from the academy, they are then qualified to apply for sworn-officer openings in the other divisions in the sheriff's department.
