Jackson EMC crews restored power to several hundred customers along Brown's Bridge Road in Hall County shortly after 3:00 p.m. Monday.
Roughly 900 customers had been without electricity since around 5:30 a.m. when a transformer caught fire. Bonnie Jones, Director, PR/Communications for the EMC, said the fire nearly burned a power pole in half.
"Originally there were 1,802 customers out. We’ve done some switching around the problem and we’re down to 907 customers out right now," Jones wrote in an email.
The outage area was west of McEver Road.
