The Oakwood Planning Commission is recommending approval of plans for a medical clinic on Mundy Mill Road where Fred Moses operated a tire shop for more than 30 years.

Oakwood City Manager Stan Brown confirms the planning board's decision and says the matter is now scheduled to go before the city council December 12 for final action.

Guilford Intermediate Care is the applcant and plans a 10,300-square-foot facility on the site.  Moses retired earlier this year and closed Fred's Treads.  Before that, the tract, at Mundy Mill Road and I-985, was home to a service station.

In sending the matter to the city council, the planning commission is recommending approval of a request to rezone the property from Highway Business to Planned Commercial Development.
