A Clarkesville woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle in Cleveland Thursday night.

Stormi Whisnant, 19, who was wearing dark clothes, stepped from the concrete divider on Ga. 11 (U.S. 129) and was struck by a vehicle that was traveling north, officials from Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville said.

"The pedestrian was wearing a black/navy shirt and black yoga-type pants," according to a statement from Post 6 Friday morning. "Driver 1 was unable to avoid contact. Vehicle 1 struck the pedestrian with the front of vehicle 1."

That vehicle, a 2001 Ford Expedition, was driven by Misty Grindle, 35, of Cleveland, according to GSP. She was not injured.

Whisnant died at the scene.

The wreck happened at 7:55 p.m. on Ga. 11 (U.S. 129) south of Hope Drive, in the area of Walmart and Captain D's.
