Retired Hall County law enforcement officer passes away after brief illness

Members of the Gainesville and Hall County law enforcement communities will remember one of their colleagues at a Saturday afternoon funeral service.

Gilbert “Gib” Cronic, 66, of Oakwood passed away on Wednesday October 19 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. 

Cronic, who was born in Duluth, served four years with the U.S. Air Force before beginning a career in law enforcement. He was employed by both the Gainesville Police Department and Forsyth County Sheriff's Office before joining the Hall County Sheriff's Office in 1980. Cronic retired after 23 years of service with HCSO.

Funeral services for Cronic are scheduled for Saturday October 22 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery
