Forsyth County Schools employee fired after Facebook posts

Posted 2:03PM on Monday 3rd October 2016 ( 7 years ago )

A Forsyth County Schools paraprofessional is out of a job after controversial Facebook posts were discovered and shared online.

"Effective Monday, October 3, 2016, Jane Wood Allen has been relieved from duty and is no longer an employee of Forsyth County Schools," schools spokeswoman Jennifer Caracciolo said in an email statement. "Racism and discrimination are not tolerated in our school district. We are committed to ongoing staff training on the acceptance of all individuals."

A Facebook account that appeared to be run by Allen had posted the comments publicly, including ones that referred to First Lady Michelle Obama as a "gorilla."

Caracciolo said in an email Friday that school officials were aware of the postings and planned to take action Monday, as Chestatee Academy was on Fall Break.

As of Monday, the Facebook page was no longer online.

Caracciolo said due to fact the issue was a personnel issue, the school system would not be commenting further.
