Lumpkin County pulls off comeback over White County, 20-14

DAHLONEGA — Lumpkin County rolled to a second straight win on Friday, pulling off a 20-14 comeback defeat of White County in Dahlonega.

The Indians (3-2) put up 315 total yards, led by 115 yards rushing on 12 carries for Cole White. White also scored two touchdowns for Lumpkin. Noah Denard also added 69 yards rushing, while Zach Matthews put up 39.

Wesley Wells also drilled two field goals (41 and 32 yards) for the Indians.

White County jumped in front 14-3 on Kaleb Crane's 76-yard touchdown run with 11:08 left in the third quarter. But the Warriors (1-5) could not manage another score.

Crane finished with 117 yards on 10 carries, while also completing 3 of 6 passes for 53 yards and a score -- a 25-yard strike to Sam Smith with 1:47 left in the first quaretr.

Desmond Lowery also rushed for 84 yards for White County.

The Warriors play host to Blessed Trinity next week.

Lumpkin County will play host to North Hall next week.
