MT. AIRY — Firefighters from four stations worked about 90 minutes freeing an injured Toccoa woman who was trapped when her vehicle overturned northeast of Mt. Airy Friday morning.
Bethany Kay Dorminey, 18, was trapped in her Jeep Liberty as a result of it striking a tree, said Sr. Trooper Jason Stephens of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.
"There was a vehicle traveling south on Camp Creek Road negotiating a curve," Stephens said. "It ran off the west shoulder, re-entered Camp Creek Road and ran off the east shoulder. The vehicle struck an embankment, started overturning and struck a tree with the top of the vehicle."
Towing operators from Webbs' Services and Ramey's Southeastern used small wreckers to assist emergency personnel during the lengthy rescue operation.
After being freed from the wreckage, Dorminey was rushed by Habersham County ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
"I'm not sure of the extent of injuries at this time," Stephens said.
Personnel from Habersham County Station 14, Station 9, Baldwin Fire Department's heavy rescue, and Demorest Fire Department responded, along with Habersham Emergency Medical Services.
Habersham County Sheriff's Office personnel shut down Camp Creek Road between Hazel Creek Road and Cody Road for about two hours as a result of the wreck.
