Hall County Assistant District Attorney Bill Akins has announced his candidacy for state court judge.
"I've been a trial lawyer for 32 years. I have over 200 jury trials under my belt, and I tought it was my time to step up to the plate," said Akins in a phone interview.
Akins, who has lived in Hall County for 13 years, is originally from Ohio, and graduated from The Citadel in 1976. He moved to Georgia in 1980, and has prosecuted or worked in DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett and Hall County as well as the Mountain Judicial Circuit, which comprises Stephens, Rabun and Habersham County.
"I've seen how things work in a number of different jurisdictions, and I've had the opportunity to appear before a number of great judges. I've seen what works and what doesn't work, not only in terms of individual trials, but in terms overall case management," said Akins.
