KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) A Kennesaw school is mourning the sudden death of one of its teachers.

Local media outlets report 23-year-old John-Michael Ritchey died Saturday after falling during a hike at Panther Creek Falls in Fannin County. Ritchey was reportedly hiking with his wife and another couple when he fell and struck his head.

Ritchey was an English teacher at North Cobb Christian School, where he had previously been a student.

Head of school Todd Clingman says Ritchey developed a personal relationship with students and was passionate about his faith.

On Sunday, officials posted on the schools' Facebook page that the school community is grieving the sudden loss.

Families gathered Sunday evening at the school's gym, and students, staff members and school leaders gathered again Monday to reflect on Ritchey's impact.
