Volleyball: Lady Red Elephants split with Mill Creek, Johnson

The Gainesville volleyball team split matches on Thursday, falling to Class AAAAAA No. 10 Mill Creek before rebounding for a win over Johnson.

The Lady Red Elephants (14-5) fell in three sets to the Lady Hawks, 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, before sweeping the Lady Knights, 25-21, 25-4. 

Tanai Watson led the team with 19 kills, 3 aces and 9 digs; Sydney King 13 digs and 2 kills; Caroline Mercer had 4 digs; Morgan Frazier had 2 kills; Tangi Miller had 2 kills and 1 block; Bessie Winston had 8 kills; Sally Callahan had 8 aces and 5 digs; Cori Griffith had 2 kills and 1 block; Abby Alexander had 2 kills and 2 blocks; Anna Wylie had 4 kills and 5 blocks; Savannah Roys had 39 assists and 9 digs; and Ashley Filson had 4 digs. 

Gainesville travels to Lakeview next Thursday to play Habersham Central and Lakeview.
