GAINESVILLE—One of the Hall County firefighters injured in a training accident in July 2014 has reached a settlement with Sutphen Corporation, the company who manufactured the ladder truck that malfunctioned in the accident.

According to his lawyer, Shane Lazenby, injured firefighter T.J. Elliott is "pleased to have the opportunity to put this incident behind him."

"He is in no way 'made whole' by the resolution of this case," said Lazenby in an email statement. "T.J. will never be able to return to the life he had before July 22, 2014. He now has a new normal."

Lazenby said the negotiations started "very early" in the process, and an agreement was reached Thursday.

Part of the agreement included confidentiality when it comes to publicly disclosing the exact dollar amount.

Thus far, none of the other firefighters have reached settlements.

Legal action was first sought in early June 2015.
