GAINESVILLE - Don Carter State Park http://gastateparks.org/DonCarter will host the 2nd Annual Chattahoochee Mountain Music Festival on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 12:00-6:00 and has been designated as a "site location" for the annual Shore Sweep cleanup of Lake Lanier which will be held two weeks later.

The festival will feature mountain music by by the Sweat Tea Boys, Bill Long, and the Now and Then Band. Other groups have also been invited. BBQ will be provided by Porkaholics and shaved ice by Kona Ice. In addition, a variety of local artisans will be showcasing and selling their wares. Some space remains available for vendors.  Any who would like to participate, should contact Cindy Vaughn at 865-293-6753 to learn details and obtain a vendor application.

In addition, volunteers are needed to assist with setting up the vendor area between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., then manning the Friends of Don Carter State Park tent in the afternoon.

Shore Sweep, sponsored by the Lake Lanier Association, will be held from 8:00-1:00 on Saturday, Sept. 26.  At Don Carter State Park, paddlers will sweep the shoreline area along the park and coves to the north. Shore walkers will be transported to cove areas on the southern end of the park via the park's pontoon barge. Free event t-shirts and snacks will be provided to all participants.
