Braselton Highway re-opened after gas leak

HOSCHTON - A gas leak on Braselton Highway NE shut down a portion of the road between Hog Mountain Road and Quail Point for over three hours Monday afternoon and evening.
 
According to an email from Gwinnett County Fire, crews were called to the scene at around 4:20 p.m. after an construction crew reportedly hit a four inch natural gas line near the 4590 block of the highway. Fire crews, along with an emergency crew from Buford Gas, were able to stop the leak just before 7:00, however the road remained closed untill 7:30 while officials checked the area for gas levels.
 
The DOT was notified while crews diverted traffic onto Mineral Springs Road during the incident. No evacuations were necessary and no injuries were reported.
