One killed in morning rush hour crash on Hwy. 316

BETHLEHEM - A traffic accident that blocked Georgia SR 316 for most of the morning rush hour Tuesday left one person dead, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers said the victim was the driver of a Ford Explorer that tried to make a left turn from SR 316 onto Highway 81. The driver pulled into the path of a Ford F250 pick-up truck and then the SUV overturned after the collision, killing the driver. The victim's name has not been released at this point.

The Georgia State Patrol said the driver of the truck was injured and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. He has been identified as Jesse Malin, 38, of Monroe.

The fatal crash happened around 6 a.m.
