Girls tennis: North Hall edges out Chamblee for state quarterfinal spot

ATLANTA -- The North Hall girls tennis team battled through two-and-a-half hours of a grueling second round state playoff match on Monday in Atlanta.

And it was worth every second.

The Lady Trojans edged out Chamblee 3-2 to clinch a berth in the Class AAAA quarterfinals.

North Hall sealed victories in No. 1 and 2 doubles, along with a win at No. 3 singles.

Hannah Gibson and Kaitlyn Smith led the way for the Lady Trojans, remaining undefeated at No. 1 doubles courtesy a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 win over Kyla Manning/Kendal Smith.

At No. 2 doubles Tricia Dial and Courtney Barnes defeated Victoria Syphoe and Leeza Erhstein 6-0, 6-0.

Karleigh Dills helped round out the win, taking out Hannah Rosen at 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1.

North Hall awaits the winner of the Woodward Academy/North Oconee match in the state quarterfinal round.
