LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) A man was killed after a confrontation with police detectives in Gwinnett County, according to a statement from law enforcement.

Gwinnett County police said that two detectives had been interviewing people at the home on Jackson Shoals Drive in the Lawrenceville area around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday regarding a case of terroristic threats or acts.

Police said that as the detectives were speaking with people inside, the suspect pulled up in a minivan and approached the home. The man reportedly produced a weapon and one of the detectives fired his gun as the suspect "may have been attempting to commit suicide."

Police say they're still investigating whether the man killed himself or was killed by the detective's gunshot.
